My Dream Car Was Not The Most Expensive Sport Car In The World
76Most Expensive Car in the World
Do you know what the most expensive car in the world is? A 1971 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe collector car was sold for 8.7 million US Dollars in 1987. That is the highest recorded price for a car ever sold. But when talking about the most expensive car in the world this has to be ruled out because it is a collector car and now not available in the market. It is bought for the antique value, and not for use.
If you are interested in the most expensive car in the world today it is not possible to give an exact answer. The most expensive cars are not marketed in the way the cheapest car is sold. They do not advertise in the TV, Newspapers or in any sports car magazine. The expensive cars are sold to wealthy persons by personal contact by super salesmen. The deals are not made public. But the exact sales prices can only be estimated. So here are the five expensive cars in the world today.
Today the highest
priced Production car is Koniggsegg Trevita with a price tag of a cool 1.8
million US Dollars. Only three white cars will be made hence Trevita. (Three Whites)
At the second place is Bugatti Veyron at a price of US$ 1.7 million.
Third place goes to Lambhoghini Revention priced at a cool 1.6 million.
The fourth most expensive car is McLaren F1 is sold at US$ 970,000.
At the fifth place is Ferrari Enzo costing US$ 670,000.
The most expensive Porsches and the Mercedes Benz cars are sold at prices nearing half a million. There are a few specialist sport car makers who produce expensive cars that cost more than half a million. These cars are not only expensive to buy but they are expensive to run an expensive to keep. Sports car insurance alone costs a fortune to the owner. These luxury motors cars are the dreams of wealthy guys. But my dream car was a humble red sports car.

Ford Capri Mk1
My Dream Car Ford Capri Mk1
My interest in cars came in a funny way when I was 10 years old. I was admitted to a big school from the village school. But the school had a severe shortage of teachers. The school was really big with more than 3000 students attending the school in two sessions. one class had 40 kids each. we were left alone to do anything we liked to do, most of the time. The building where were, was not totally covered and had short walls (walls?) of planks and very close to the road.
We could watch the vehicles on the road. some of us got together and started betting on the numbers (odd or even, which series), the make of the car, type of vehicle etc. to pass the time. We came to know a lot about vehicles than lot of vehicle users.... at the age of 11 or 12. The nicest car I saw was a red Sunbeam two seater convertible that went pass our school almost everyday. Still I did not dream about that but generally I developed a crush on sport car and motor bikes.
When I was in the University a friend of mine was sent a car, a used vehicle by his sister living in UK. At that time car imports were restricted and all the cars on the road were very old. I had a chance to drive it though I did not have a driving license then. That car became my dream car, It was a Ford Capri Mk 1 1969 Model.

Shattered Dream
After Graduation I got a job, saved some money and I wanted to buy my first car. Even a used Ford Capri was not beyond my reach, when two tragedies occurred in the family on which I had to spend my savings. There were new sports cars on the road but I had to be satisfied with an old Hillman as I couldn’t buy a more expensive car. Other than that, an official car came along with the job. Though it was only for official traveling we used to take some liberties. I liked that tiny car, a Ford Anglia 105 E Estate car.

How the Dream was Partially Fulfilled
I got a high paying foreign job and saved money cam back home and settled for the family life. The coupes or sports cars were almost forgotten. There were new sport cars on the roads, and my daughter was active in a sports car club. I also used a couple of cars and a SUV during the time that flew. Neither of them had the sports car performance of some thing like a 3-liter Capri Mark III.
Just when I was planning to retire and at a time i never expected I got a Hyundai sports car as a present from my daughter. I used it for three plus years now and I love it. It's a Red Hyundai Coupe. That has looks. OK. That is a little humble when you talk about a Ford Capri even. But the greatest surprise came yesterday, when I sat for writing this hub.

Nice article. I never knew about Capri before. Just wait it sell in my country. I love all the picture. I wish I have Koniggsegg Trevita, maybe in my imagination. But who knows?
Thank you very much! ~prasetio
Hi SunPen we also had the Capri here in Australia. It certainly was a nice looking car. I believe the design is related to the Mustang?
You are fortunate indeed to have such a loving daughter :-)
When all the roads in our place are fully cemented, I will surprise my neighbors with a posh car, perhaps, a Ford Capri?! Well, I got to save more; it's a kind of investment, though. Way to go, Sun Pen and congratulations on your hub nomination!
Congrats on your nomination. Wishing you good luck. I had a Capri once and it was a lemon, but I won't hold it against you. It was one of the first Capris made way back in the 70s. I love mustangs and had a couple of them already.
Congrats on your HubNugget nomination. My dream car in the 60's and 70's was the Ford Mustang...I got over that. Good luck writing more hubs.
Hiya Sun Pen, Congratulations for having this hub a HubNugget Nominee! Well-deserved nomination as I enjoyed reading it. I'm giving this a thumbs up. Welcome to Hubpages.
Happy Holidays,
Rosie
I remember when the Capri was released in 1969 It was just under a thousand pounds..:)
Congratulations on your hubnugget nomination. My first car was a big Ford Galaxy 500. I loved that battleship.
Namaste.
Great Hub my friend... I cant remember whats was my favour car... sorry
Amidst the busy schedule, I finally had to read this hub post which your grand son was talking about.. Sunpen... it certainly was interesting to read. No wonder it got nominated for hub nugget! :-)

Your dream car the Capri Mk-1 is also my dream car.
I purchased the Capri Mk-1 ( 1971 model brand new in UK)
and shipped it to Sri Lanka in 1975 when I left the UK.
The car has been fully restored and is in pristine condition as everything about the vehicle is original.
It is a one owner vehicle with only 83,000 miles on the clock

I know what you mean, SuPen. I had a Capri at one time and it was great. It never let me down and it could go like a racing car. Happy days. I'm stuck with a Ford Fiesta now. Great hub.
